Blackburn Rovers vs Aston Villa (1-1) – Match Review – 2018/19

Blackburn Rovers returned to league action as they took on Aston Villa at Ewood Park. Rovers managing to grab a valuable point in the end despite going ahead with only minutes remaining on the clock.

The goals came from Bradley Dack for Blackburn Rovers and Conor Hourihane for Aston Villa.

Blackburn Rovers returned to Ewood Park to try and continue their fine start to the 2018-19 Championship season.

However they found themselves in deep water at half time being 2 goals down to a plucky Reading. The visitors scored both goals via defensive howlers by Rovers and they were scored by Bödvarsson.

Rovers were hit by a couple of injuries both before the match and during the match, as midfield dynamo Bradley Dack and Kasey Palmer both ruled out, whereas during the match both Adam Armstrong and Dominic Samuel where substituted due to injuries.

Regardless Rovers fought back via 2 penalties scored by Cpt Charlie Mulgrew to maintain our unbeaten start to the Championship season.

The only goal coming from Bradley Dack shortly before the half time whistle.

Despite that, Hull City edged themselves back into the game towards the final 20 minutes. However Rovers held firm thanks to some fantastic saves from David Raya towards the end.

The only concern for Rovers after the match is the health of Bradley Dack who was substituted with a knee injury shortly into the 2nd half.

Blackburn Rovers vs Millwall (0-0) – Match Review – 2018/19

Blackburn Rovers opened up their home season with a draw against a very difficult Millwall side.

The match ended with zero goals, however plenty of drama, with Millwall hitting the post 2 in the first half with Rovers hitting the cross bar just the once.

Into the second half, Rovers looked the deadlier, and could have scored a couple of goals to wrap up the points but no joy for Blackburn.

In this video we go over the match in a bit more detail with analysis, fan input and words from the gaffa.

Rovers: Raya, Nyambe, Lenihan, Mulgrew (c), Bell, Evans, Smallwood (Armstrong, 66), Bennett (Travis, 79), Dack, Palmer (Rothwell, 64), Graham.

Unused substitues: Leutwiler, Nuttall, Downing, Conway.

Millwall: Archer, Meredith, Hutchinson, Cooper, Williams, J. Wallace (Ferguson, 89), Gregory, Romeo, Morison (c), O’Brien (Skalak, 70), Saville.

Unused substitutes: Amos, McLaughlin, Tunnicliffe, Elliott, M. Wallace.

Booked: Williams, 44.

Referee: Gavin Ward.

Ipswich Town 2 vs Blackburn Rovers 2 – Match Review – 2018/19

Blackburn Rovers started their new season back in the EFL Championship with a draw against a revamped Ipswich Town.

Despite trailing in the first 5 minutes Rovers took the lead thanks to goals from Danny Graham and the other from Bradley Dack.

It was not until the last minute of normal time when Ipswich clawed themselves back into the match with an equalizer. Bit of a bitter pill to swallow but I would have taken a point if offered at the start of the day.

In this video we go over the match in a bit more detail with analysis, fan input and words from the gaffa.

Starting Lineups:

Ipswich Town:

Ipswich Town: Bialkowski, Spence (Woolfenden, 38) , Donacien, Chambers (c), Knudsen, Chalobah, Skuse, Downes (Edun, 60), Edwards, Sears (Morris, 77), Harrison.

Blackburn Rovers: Raya, Nyambe, Lenihan, Mulgrew (c), Williams, Smallwood, Evans, Bennett, Dack (Conway, 82), Samuel (Palmer, 62), Graham (Nuttall, 68).

Goals:

Ipswich Town: Edwards, 5, Edun, 90

Blackburn Rovers: Graham, 20, Dack, 29

Attendance: 18,940 (1,070)
